Question: what is the best translation for 研磨 (kenma)?

Background:
– previously heard the term 再研 (saiken) when developing Tool Management System
– not sure if saiken is from sai-kenma (研磨 kenma: grinding, polishing, refining) or sai-kensaku (研削 kensaku: grinding)
